Mini Crisis...Eventually Averted.

Yesterday was an interesting one. I woke up to a wonderful message from Josh that seemed to have my day going very nicely. My Convention and Event Management class is very easy, and should be for the rest of the term. After classes and lunch Maddie, Tyler, Colby, and I head into town to run some errands. I came back and went to the fitness room for a great hour long workout. Then came back to my room to shower.

Then the crisis occurred. When going to use my blow dryer after I got out of the shower, it seemed to be blowing out hair a lot faster than normal, so I turned the setting down to low. Then I thought I saw a spark, which made me turn off the blow dryer. I turned it back on to low again and sure enough it sparked again. Then my converter started to smell and it got really hot. After having to live with the fact that my hair has to air dry (eww) I decided to try to see if my laptop charger would still plug in. It was working fine, but the burning smell from before became strong and I unplugged the converter and charger and nearly dropped the converter because it was so hot, and smoking!

UGH! Not a fun experience. My battery on my computer was starting to run low and I was searching all over the internet to find a Swiss adapter for American electronics. During this time I was frantically emailing back and forth with my dad trying to find a solution and Facebook messaging with Josh who can always calm me down. After about an hour I gave up and Maddie and I went back into to town to search AGAIN for an adapter. Unfortunately none of the adapters fit my laptop charger plug, so that was even more frustrating. She let me borrow her adapter for the time being, and I ended up finding one at a travel products store and it should be shipped to me within the next couple of days. Lesson 4: Do some heavy duty research about foreign electric plugs and adapters before traveling abroad.

Last night was the first night that we actually stayed up and hung out with people. Everyone seems to gather in the lobby around 10pm and drinks. Maddie and I got drinks from the bar in the basement called Chaos and brought them upstairs. I'm really enjoying the majority of the people in our group from WSU. They're all really chill and fun to hang out with. I'm excited for tomorrow when we plan out our weekend adventures.

-Love-
