Superbowl Sunday

I cherish the Superbowl. I've watched it every year since I was like 8 years old and I HATE to miss it. So naturally, I was a little nervous that this year would be the first time that I would miss the Superbowl, not cool. Luckily I'm here in Switzerland with a bunch of guys that also love the Superbowl, so I knew they'd try to find a way to watch it as well.

The game started at 12:30am here, and the only channel we could find it on was broadcasting it in German. AJ got on Skype with his dad and had him face the computer towards the TV so that we could watch the game in English and with the beloved commercials. The video quality however, was pretty poor...and after halftime it got worse. Throughout the game, people started trickling out of Chaos (where we were watching the game) because they couldn't stand the bad video any longer, plus it was the wee hours of the morning for us. But I'm a dedicated American and I wanted to watch the Superbowl, damn it! So I didn't leave, until about 5 minutes into the third quarter when the pixels turned into giant squares on the screen and you couldn't even tell what sport was being played.

I made my way back up to my room to finish watching the game on an HD channel, but in German. Luckily you don't really have to listen to understand what is going on, but I did miss out on commercials. They actually played zero commercials whatsoever which was very odd for me. Overall it was an interesting night and I'm happy that it all pretty much worked out in the end. I'm just thrilled that I got to see the Steelers crumble in defeat!

And since I didn't get to watch basically any of the commercials, I found a website and watched every single one today. I have to say my favorite two were the VW Darth Vader commercial and the Audi "Release the Hounds" commercial. I was satisfied with most of the commercials this year, despite the lack of creativeness since Superbowl XL.

-Love-
